He looked
upon them all
Those who chastised him
Those who were
Drunk on wine
Out of their minds
and
Those who were drinking in
The love and hope of God
For humankind
Had not been
So kind
To His One and Only
Holy Son
He was crucified
And his blood was
Streaming down his face
And Jesus, the Holy One
Looked upon them all
Then turning his eyes to heaven
He prayed
Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.
Then he gave
Up his spirit to God,
The one that rested upon him at his Baptism in the River Jordan
He gave it up
So he could send it to rest
Upon me and you.
