“So many people say they would like a stress-free life. The reality is we don’t have stress-free lives. We can find moments that are stress free, and they are truly wonderful. But wonderful can be changed in an instant and fracture our lives. Thank God fractures can be healed over time if we care for them properly. We can heal from times when stress has fractured our hearts, minds, families, and organization – – if we care for ourselves properly.” Page 1
I’ve just had to do that – and am indeed still doing that – taking care of myself and working on doing that properly instead of improperly. What do I mean by that? I mean that we are not in this world alone – no one is – and so we need to rely on other people to help us from time to time. People who are sincere, caring and compassionate.
My heart goes out to the people in Texas, Florida, Mexico and wherever else the events of nature are taking a toll. My heart goes out to those working in healthcare for all the first responders that respond to both natural and man-made disasters. Yes, we do cause un-natural disasters and we shouldn’t say we don’t.
Proper care is taking time to determine what we are able to do, when we can help and when we need help or what to do when someone or even our own selves are in need.
Prayer and Mediation is one way to stop and discern or determine what we are able or unable to do.
Prayer doesn’t always have to be long and drawn out. Prayer can become an attitude. People in leadership often don’t take time to sit down. People who are following often don’t want them to. But Jesus, he sometimes went away from the crowds demanding attention and following in order to pray and/or teach/encourage his disciples.
Just take some time to pray and you will find your stress level lowered.
