I’ve been thinking about everything that is going on in the world and all the expressions of anger that we see taking place in small and big ways. The truth is we all struggle with anger from time to time. It is important to understand why we are angry and it is important to learn how to manage anger. Jesus, God Incarnate, managed anger well.
Jesus, born to save the world from sin, was crucified by angry men.
Sometimes people feel so angry they might feel like they need to do something with it before they explode. Counting to 10 and taking deep breaths and going for walks or runs, can be helpful. Equally or perhaps even more helpful is prayer.
While writing this book I was inspired to write the cross poem/prayer and the prayer beneath it that appear on page 116 of “Praying Our Way Through Stress: Drawing Wisdom from the Lord’s Life and Prayer.”
Today, while praying for all the people who are experiencing anger in these somewhat tumultuous times I felt compelled to share these prayers with you. Christ was crucified on a Friday. Today may feelings of anger be crucified with Him.
Come Holy Spirit and be poured out upon all flesh.
AMEN
