Ever have a pity party? Serously. Most of us have had a pity party at some time in our life. They aren’t very fun and don’t do much good. No one ever sends out an invitation that reads:
You are invited to A Pity Party!
Date:
Time:
Location:
Please come, we’ll have a pity good time!
Ya right! Not going to that one! I know what there like and so do you. No one wants anyone to come to a pity party. Everyone wants to put an end to them because everyone knows they aren’t much fun.
What’s the point of me writing about this? Because we can either pout our way through stress or we can powt (Pray Our Way Through) life’s stressful moments.
POW’s do that and so do their families, neighbors and friends.
Sometimes we are prisoners of our own personal wars. We are imprisoned by our own attitudes, arguments, fears, disagreements. But we don’t have to live like that. What kind of stress are you under today? How are you going to get through it? By sitting around and having a pity party by yourself or will you pray yourself through it? Will you have a prayer party instead? Will you invite at least one other person to it? Think you don’t have anyone to invite at a moment’s notice? Jesus understands that feeling too – he kept trying to wake up his friends and reminding them to pray – but they kept falling asleep.
The Lord never sleeps – God in Christ Jesus – just call on the name of the Lord and put an end to your pity party! Read the Lord’s Prayer, pay attention to what you are reading, say AMEN. Then say hello to a better day!
