The other evening I listened to a woman talk about a stressful situation at work. That day 210 people at her place of employment were told they no longer had a job and no one knew when the cuts were going to end. People were asked to come to a meeting, they went to the meeting and many were escorted out and their spaces had been cleaned out for them.
It’s stressful going to work if you don’t know, because…..
My husband and I went to see the movie Captain Phillips for my birthday. He asked if I would like to go see 12 Years a Slave http://bit.ly/1bfJ9xB or check out different movies. When I looked at the movie previews I knew right away I wanted to see Captain Phillips http://bit.ly/16ZMwcJ instead. I told him that I’ve seen so many slave movies over the years I wanted to watch something different and I don’t think I ever saw a movie about…..
I had a radio interview this morning with WFCJ fm and was asked how this book might help a person overcome Holiday Stress with all the preparations and everything that has to get done. While she was talking the first thing that came to mind was the story about Martha and Mary and Jesus. Martha was all busy getting things ready for dinner and Mary was sitting at Jesus’ feet. It’s a story about relationship, people gather together more for relationship…..
Yesterday I had the privilege of leading an Adult Ed class at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (ELCA). I was invited to present by the Parish Nurse, bless her soul. About 20 people attended. When we were reviewing the manifestations of unresolved stress we talked about persecution and bullying; it was a short but interesting discussion that caused me to…..
What can I say? This is an interesting experience for sure. Becoming an author takes concentration, time, effort and a certain amount of courage. In my book I have a chapter titled Fear, Faith and Stress.
All those emotions come into play in the process of becoming an Author. At least they have for me. When I sent my first copy in and waited to hear from Westbow Press I continued to write other things. They have a process for…..
My Parish Priest carried over All Saints Day to this Sunday so he could ask us some questions and talk to us in practicalities about saints and their lives. While he didn’t ask if they had they stress free lives he did ask us if they were all perfect. And of course we said no.
So why do so many Christians try to pretend they have perfect lives…..
Holidays are fun, they are meant to be times of families spending time together for a specific purpose. It’s interesting how these can so soon become times of stress and division for so many different reasons.
Today is Halloween and for many people it’s a time where kids and their parents dress up in costume and walk around the neighborhood with a bag or bucket, someone opens the door and hands out candy or treats of some kind. It’s innocent…..
In order to forget how to do something, first you have to known how to do it.
I grew up in the church and I had learned how to pray in church and in Sunday School and at home. I learned prayers that we memorized. Now there is nothing wrong with memorizing prayers. But sometimes when we memorize something it just becomes a ‘pat’ response to something. Kind of how our greetings are when we pass people on the street…..
Ever have a pity party? Serously. Most of us have had a pity party at some time in our life. They aren’t very fun and don’t do much good. No one ever sends out an invitation that reads:
You are invited to A Pity Party!
Date:
Time:
Location:
Please come, we’ll have a pity good time!
Ya right! Not going to that one! I know what there like and so do you. No one wants anyone to come to a…..
