Today’s reading is John 12:20-36. What I find interesting here is that the reading begins with people who were on their way to ‘the festival’ telling Phillip they wanted to see Jesus. Jesus then speaks to his disciples and the crowd and at the end of the reading, Jesus hides from them.
Odd to think that Jesus…..
Today’s Gospel Reading is John 12:1-11. Those of us who are familiar with this part of the story have heard about the exchange of words between Jesus and Judas when Mary used the costly perfume to anoint Jesus’ feet. Judas thought it was a waste to spend the perfume on Jesus when it could have…..
You think you have stress preparing for Easter? Too much happening during Holy Week? Too many people to visit for the ‘Holiday?’ Consider again the thought of Praying Your Way Through this week while thinking about the stress Jesus endured preparing himself and his disciples for the Last Passover Meal he would share with his disciples, the last…..
This Lenten Season I have taken up a new kind of writing. I am learning Haiku poetry. When I first started reading Haiku I thought, I don’t understand this kind of poetry and that bothered me. The writers group gave a challenge of writing some and I wanted to avoid it because it…..
Well, here we are at The End of another year on the calendar and another year of our lives. And, we’re also at The Beginning of another year on the calendar and another year of our lives.
No matter what your year was like – remember – it was blessed and nothing entered your life that God was not aware of. Maybe you don’t like some of the things that have happened. Maybe you don’t understand them. Maybe you…..

Yes – to me it makes so much more sense to blame war on people than on institutions. We blame human actions on institutions because it’s hard…..
We are nearing the season of Advent, the time of preparing for Christmas. There is a verse in 2 Corinthians 5:19 that tells us what God was doing ‘in Christ.’ Today, I want to suggest that we ask ourselves what everyone was doing when the Christ Child was born. What was everyone else doing when the angels appeared to Mary and Joseph? What…..

We must participate in whatever way possible to help ourselves and other people have encounters that are a reflection of heaven on earth.

In Colossians 3:16-17 The Apostle Paul encourages people to “sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God” with hearts that are filled with gratitude . . . “whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
If you look to the Book of Psalms in the…..
If we are the leaves perhaps then Jesus is the Tree who sets us free for healing the nations
Rev. 22:2
How can we heal unless we are first healed? And what kind of healing is this verse about? Is it only about physical healing or is it more about healing of our belief systems? healing of our minds? healing of our thoughts? healing of…..
