If we are the leaves
perhaps then
Jesus is the Tree
who sets us free
for healing the nations
Rev. 22:2
How can we heal unless we are first healed? And what kind of healing is this verse about? Is it only about physical healing or is it more about healing of our belief systems? healing of our minds? healing of our thoughts? healing of our hearts? healing of our relationships?
Who are the nations in need of healing? Are not all nations in need of healing? Are there no wars between gentiles, even within their own? Are there any tribes without wars of their own? Do not pagans fight with one another? People, we are all in need of healing, whether Jew, Gentile, Greek, Hebrew, American, Syrian, Polish, German, Australian, Mexican, Canadian, French, Norwegian, no matter where we are or our ancestors have come from matters little to Jesus Christ. Are not people within every religion and every nation in need of healing? God’s Love and Healing is for everyone, everywhere, in every nation. God so loved the world, that he gave us all Jesus, to teach us, to lead us, to heal us and set us free. He was crucified on a tree and while hanging there people mocked him saying ‘heal yourself.’ They couldn’t see they needed healing themselves.
There is healing power in the Word of the God, (the Word was and is Jesus) and there is healing in his Wisdom, through prayer people have received his healing in heart and soul and mind.
Let us pray:
Lord, open our minds today, open our souls too, so we may know the depth of our own need of healing. Pour your Holy Spirit upon us and let us drink in the sweetness of your love and grace that we may be rooted in the river of the water of life, your pure life.
Please forgive us for the times we have walked past a person who has been tormented by word or deed by another person saying ‘heal yourself.’
Your word tells us that what we do to another we have done to you. Jesus, truly, you are the Son of God and we, the very people created in your image, have misunderstood and mistreated other people in every nation in our generation. Please forgive us, for we cannot heal ourselves without your forgiveness.
Help people in our generation to hear, accept and receive your grace. Thank you for your healing words of forgiveness spoken from the cross. Thank you for forgiving us today.
Heal us Lord God, we need your healing today. We cannot heal each other or ourselves without your abundant life and love dwelling in our hearts and minds, without drinking in from your river.
We humbly pray and believe that your will is still to heal us and help us live in your healing power today. AMEN
