Today I attended an event called “Peace Grows” Nurturing a Culture of Peace: Transforming to End War, Poverty and the Climate Crises.
Another day of the Lord settling deeper into my soul. Another day of healing, of listening to the hopes of the speakers, musicians and actors. Listening to stories of people who have struggled in life and who have found peace and healing.
Words and phrases that I remember from the day are
– Nonviolent Revolutions
– Jesus is a peacemaker
– We need to teach the three P’s . . . People, Peace and the Planet
– Due to global warming the pH balance of the earths water is becoming more acidic.
– In one day, due to the fires in California, over 600 people have become homeless. Alaska has lost over 5 millions acres to fire. There are fires in Australia too.
– All music is water
– The homeless aren’t only drug addicts and lazy people – they are people who worked whose jobs ended, or whose marriages fell apart, they are children, they are people who have served society in a variety of ways and hard times hit. It only takes 14 days of homelessness for a person to become desperate or become a victim.
I learned again that I have a compassionate heart and that I’m not alone in my hope for peace and that maybe, just maybe, it’s not too late for us to heal souls and subdue and heal the earth. I was reawakened and remembered that what is impossible for humanity (alone) is possible with God . . .
As I listened to the ‘Water Music’ I turned my phone to the sky (where our water rises to and falls from) I closed my eyes and let the music soothe my soul and asked silently, “Lord, what is the message you are speaking to my soul?” I was immediately inspired to write the following:
The Water is Thirsty
You who thirst and drink from
the wells of the earth
Listen to the voice of the Water . . .
I am
thirsty
I am
in need
of healing.
Can you feel me,
see me, taste me, touch me?
I ache
from your abuse
I thirst
for your love and care . . .
People of the earth
Please heal me
so I may heal you
once again.
As I drove home from the event I remembered that a few days ago I had taken a photo of the sky and saw what looked like a face in the clouds . . . today it seemed that face might just have been the face of Jesus, whom we sometimes refer to as the living water . . . I was reminded that the church, known as the body of Christ on earth, is sometimes in need of healing. Christ is the head of the church and if all the members of the church were honest, we would have to agree that we have not always allowed Jesus to be the head of the church. Instead, sometimes, people are jockeying around trying to be the head themselves and we end up persecuting one another in the process. It is sad and it is abusive. Jesus said whatever we do to one another we do to him. What if the words I was inspired to write is a message not just for me, but for everyone? It would not be right for me to keep it to myself. . . so tonight I am sharing it. If and when I receive permission from the musician who was playing while I was listening so intently to his music that it spoke to my soul, I will share that with you as well . . .
Let us pray:
Lord God, again we come asking for your love, desiring to love you with our whole heart, with all our souls and minds and strength. Please forgive us and prior generations for abusing this fragile earth, for abusing one another and wounding your spirit. Please teach us and lead us forward, to heal the broken – those in body, mind or spirit. With you, true healing is possible and with you, healing the earth is possible too. We ask this not only for ourselves, we ask this for the sake of the children of this world in this and future generations. Please help us to receive your peace and to live in peace and teach us to share your peace to one another, that your name and life be glorified forever. AMEN
